|About||One of Boston’s oldest community gardens, maintained by its 60+ members, supported by the generosity of our friends and neighbors, and open to the public.|
The Gardens for Charlestown is educational and charitable, focusing on improving lives of people in Charlestown and producing something of value from the land itself. It was incorporated in 1980 as charitable 501(c)3 non-profit, whose purpose is to promote community pride, gardening, and green space in Charlestown. It is a unique green space that is communally cultivated and cared for, consisting of individually worked plots and communally-tended gardens that contribute to the neighborhood. Its unique characteristics of accessibility to neighbors and the public at large make it a well-maintained park-like green space for walks and enjoying nature. In recognition of the importance of community stewardship, the Garden runs several events throughout the year.
