|About||The GEP is a group of South Gloucestershire Primary Schools and Bath Spa University, working alongside each other to offer a specialised Primary PGCE.|
The Growing Educational Partnership (GEP) is a specialised PGCE project from Bath Spa University (BSU) and a number of South Gloucestershire Primary Schools. We are looking for students to participate in this project, at no additional financial cost, through the academic year 2016-2017. The aim of the project is for all participants to make significant learning over the year and for students to have a far more flexible and personalised training experience.
How is this different from a standard PGCE?
Like the PGCE you will have a University based tutor to support and assess your overall progress and you will participate in the University based aspects of the course. The main difference with the GEP is that you will experience more time in school and you will be given significant extra time for school based mentors and head teachers. Furthermore, you will be part of cohesive planning between schools to support progress based on regular meetings between combinations of BSU, mentors and students. In addition to this, wider experiences will be accessible during school training to work with external agencies such as education welfare, school nurse, speech therapist and will be tailored to each schools needs. Finally, being a part of the GEP means you will be given a commitment to ongoing professional development beyond your PGCE.
