Description
It is a scientific procedure by which a hearing aid is selected for a hearing impaired person, using an eclectic method comprising both subjective and objective procedures. A hearing aid is a medical device, and selecting the appropriate device for the person depends on different criteria such as degree and nature of hearing loss. Usually, a trial session is done with a minimum of 2-3 brands of hearing aid so that the person and the audiologist may determine the suitability of a specific device, depending on the person’s lifestyle, clinical and psychological requirements, cosmetic preferences, feeling of well-being etc. During the trial period, the person is encouraged to wear the hearing aid for extended periods. The person may return the new hearing aid after extended-use wearing if they are unsatisfied with the device.
