Description |
As the third-largest city in Los Angeles County, Glendale encompasses an area of 30.59 square miles and is home to 193,652 residents. In 2012, the Glendale Fire Department responded to well over 16,000 incidents within the city and in other nearby jurisdictions - about 45 incidents per day. An incident may be as simple as responding to a false alarm in a commercial building or as complex as fighting a brush fire with assistance from other fire agencies over several days' time. Staffing includes 240 sworn and non-sworn personnel, with at least 50 sworn members on duty every hour of every day. Fire Administration oversees all personnel and operations and ensures smooth functioning on a 24/7 basis. |
