The Global Compact Network Romania is the United Nations Global Compact Romanian local network.
Local Networks were launched to help make the UN Global Compact relevant across the world’s different economic, political and cultural landscapes and to support meaningful engagement with signatories. The Global Compact Local Network in Romania implements activities in support of UNGC signatories based in Romania, who wish to maximise the benefits of their engagement with the UN Global Compact.
In April 2014, through a Letter of Intent issued by the United Nations Global Compact Office in New York, signed by Mr. Walid Nagy, Head of Local Networks, The CSR Agency received a mandate to work on establishing a Global Compact Network in Romania (GCNRo).
A few months later, in October 2014, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Romania joined us as a Strategic Partner, by committing to support the development of the network and the official launch in May 2015.
Alongside the programme coordinators in New York, we invited multinational companies, SMEs, academic, governmental and non-governmental organisations, interested in human rights, labour rights, environment and anti-corruption standards to join us as Participants in the local network, Global Compact Network Romania (GCNRo), to promote the Global Compact Principles in Romania.
