Mission I am a FIRM believer in “Positive Attitude”…”Look Good, Feel Good”. Most women go through chemo losing their hair, their eyelashes & their eyebrows; never knowing that there is a product out there that will save their eyelashes and eyebrows. This product however is not cheap…it would cost approximately $500 just to sponsor one woman. But think about it…we can live without hair…but every morning the 2 things most women won’t leave the house without is mascara (which you need eyelashes for) & lipstick. Sounds very trivial, but once a woman loses her eyelashes and eyebrows no matter how good she feels, she begins to look sick, thus her mind telling her she is sick, and therefore she becomes sick. I want to help prevent that! I want to empower women going through chemo to feel good and look good, to be able to feel like a normal person in this scary world of cancer & chemo.
Description My husband and I were married on July 18, 2014. We immediately started trying for a baby as neither of us had children. With no luck we were scheduled for IVF (invetro) the 1st week of May, 2015. Unfortunately, instead of getting a baby, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer on April 1st, 2015. As you can imagine this was a very trying, emotional period for us. But as we were going through this, we received & are still receiving so much support, that it is humbling. We decided that we would NOT let Cancer rule us, but yet WE would rule it. That being said I have made it my mission to create a foundation to give back to the communities that have supported us; and what better time than just after my last chemo treatment on Sept 21st and the kickoff of Breast Cancer awareness month to have our 1st annual event.
I have learned so much going through Breast Cancer, things the doctors don’t tell you and unless you know someone that had gone through Breast Cancer you would never find out. It is my mission through my non-profit foundation to provide those things for women going through my same situation. Through my foundation we will be able to assist women with medical bills; we will be able help pay for “real hair wigs”, which cost around $1300 a piece & provide them with “tips & tricks” of what to do while going through chemo, as well as “how to make cancer fun” (for example I did a “shave my head party)!
In addition, I am a FIRM believer in “Positive Attitude”…”Look Good, Feel Good”.
