Description The original music festival gallery established in 1999. The Golden Road Gallery is a Grateful Dead and Psychedelic Art oriented traveling rock and roll exhibit that is set up at music festivals across the United States. The Gallery was created in 1999 and launched at the ill-fated Woodstock '99 event, where it featured a full display of art from prominent Woodstock '69 photographer Elliott Landy (cover photographer of Bob Dylan's Nashville Skyline, The Band's early albums, and many iconic Woodstock images.) Despite the riot and chaos that ensued, the gallery was very well received and Gathering of the Vibes promoter Ken Hays welcomed it to his festival the following year. In 2000, the Kesey's Furthur Festival exhibit expanded to include the Golden Road Gallery. It has been a staple at many prominent music festivals ever since.

In the course of its ten years the gallery has hosted talks, signings and appearances by prominent Grateful Dead illustrator Stanley Mouse, the inimitable clown activist Wavy Gravy, Grateful Dead historian and publicist Dennis McNally, photographers Herb Greene and Susana Millman, second generation Grateful Dead artists Mike DuBois, Tina Carpenter, Richard Biffle, Mikio Kennedy and William Giese and blotter art archivist / historian Mark McCloud. The gallery is part merchandise booth, part relic display, and part historical archive. It has a constantly rotating display, but features at its core a number of Not For Sale items that are directed towards the historical merit of the Beat and Grateful Dead counter-cultures.

The Not For Sale portion of the Gallery houses an archive of recordings of Ken Kesey, Wavy Gravy, Dennis McNally, Jorma Kaukonen, Hakim Bey and others. It also contains a number of Not For Sale relics, signature pieces by Alex Grey, Albert Hofmann, Wavy Gravy, Timothy Leary, Stanley Mouse, Ken Kesey and others. The gallery supports itself via sales of collectibles, giclees and other art prints, but maintains at its core a han
