An ex-gymnast, spinally fused, 14-year yogi, Ashtangi, trained in India, with a gypSEA soul whose practice draws from hatha, kundalini and vinyasa. Her heart-centered approach evokes an understanding of interconnectedness through a focus on self-love, nature and seva (service). The intention being that students may discover the light within that ignites their path to inner peace, the connection which opens the heart to universal love.
After 10 years as a competitive gymnast, lower back surgery brought her athletic ability to a halt. Looking for a way to ease the pain and regain strength and flexibility, she discovered yoga and immediately fell in love with the practice. She quickly learned of its transformational power over the mind and began to see it as path to freedom.
Embarking on this journey meant a lifelong quest for self-knowledge, love, and humility. In 2010 she volunteered in India and earned her yoga teaching certification. Her time in India inspired her to establish her own NGO, Kids’ Foundation for Uniting Nations which connects and inspires kids around the world to initiate positive change through service.
Now a mother of two, living on the sea in her sailboat, she continues to grow her practice through deeper explorations of meditation and pranayama techniques. She teaches various levels and styles of privates lessons, group classes, and Paddleboard Yoga, in addition to facilitating teacher trainings and retreats in Costa Rica and Florida.
Courtney is also a dive master who grew up navigating the waters of coastal Florida and has a degree in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. Enter the birth of Gypsea Yoga. Why gypsy? Because we are all in a constant state of change, a constant state of becoming. And of course, Sea because that’s where she finds connection over and over again.
