HARTS HAnds on Refugees Talents and Sustainability cover
Description The initiative that was supported by the Greek forum of Refugees to empower the refugee women with their talent and skills brought the realization of the idea in the creation of “Harts” HAnds on Refugees Talent and Sustainability.
The idea came on a visit to Lesvos where it was noticed that women were not included in recreational projects or any other projects. These women have skills that were inherited from their mothers and are precious which should not be forgotten.

HARTS (Hands on Refugees Talent and Sustainability) initiative, established in 2016, aims at empowering refugee women to become resilient.
The workshop HARTS is not only where the art begins but, mainly, it is about women’s empowering time and space in which they design, train and support each other through their creations. This constitutes a private meeting between women, apart from their difficult everyday
life outside the camps, where they share their stories, their experiences and skills in terms of traditional handicrafts. It is also a recognition of what these women can bring to us and a way to encourage them to rely on themselves, to be autonomous.

HARTS provides professional support to help them develop their skills, as well as to promote their products to the market, in order to create a sustainable empowering initiative. Donations will be used for supplies and for seminars: language, learning new skills, learning the value of their skills and how to cultivate new skills, creating small business for women.

Follow HARTS FB page to be up to date with our events and bazaars and to check out the latest creations.
