|Mission||Educating Minds • Expanding Hearts • Enriching Lives|
The Memorial Church is a multidenominational Protestant church in the midst of Harvard Yard that serves as a place of spiritual refuge to the entire community. It has been the church for Harvard University since its dedication on Armistice Day 1932 in memory of those who died in World War I, and was a gift of the alumni to the University. Memorials have been added to remember those who have died in the wars since.
The Memorial Church has long been regarded as the symbolic center of Harvard's spiritual life, and stands opposite Widener Library as a visible reminder of the historical and spiritual heritage that has sustained Harvard for nearly four centuries. It continues to serve as a space of spiritual reflection and a refuge for members of the Harvard University community.
