Heather Carpenter is a 500hr RYT, LMT, studio owner, Reiki Master, mother of 3, wife, and singer/songwriter. She has been practicing yoga since her teens and teaching for nearly a decade. Her teaching is influenced by her study of anatomy and kinesiology. Heather's classes focus on alignment, strength and pliability.
For the past 7 years Heather has dedicated her time to learning more about how to use yoga therapeutically. The skills and information she gained while studying massage and yoga has helped to hone her approach in one on one lessons and in her classroom. It is her goal to help people achieve more strength, move with ease, and increase stamina.
Heather has studied with some of the most respected anatomy and alignment focused teachers in the yoga world. Her main teachers are Rocky Heron and Noah Mazè of Yogamazè, but she has also studied with Tiffany Cruikshank of Yoga Medicine, Jason Crandell, and Paul Grilley, one of the founders of Yin Yoga. Heather has a degree in Human Services with an emphasis in Social Services and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 3 years.
In the rural community of Port Orford, where Heather lives and owns Vital Current Yoga Center, her students vary in age anywhere from 16-80 years old. The population is small and so are the classes. She is constantly having to adapt and modify her sequences on the fly, according to who shows up. This has become second nature to her and has had a big impact on her style as a teacher. Having a wide range of ages and abilities in class asks for patience and a sense of humor. Heather has a way of diffusing the serious moments with her kindness and lighthearted nature. She feels that everyone can learn how to do yoga, and she aims to teach people where they're at. Everyone feels welcome in her classes, and everyone leaves feeling like "that class was for them."
