Herne Hill Free Film Festival (HHFFF) is run by volunteers for the good of the community, in collaboration with www.freefilmfestivals.org.
Herne Hill Free Film Festival Mission Statement
Herne Hill Free Film Festival is about bringing people from all parts of our community together to enjoy great films in neighbourhood venues. At the heart of the Festival is a commitment not to charge the audience to attend screenings. The festival is run entirely by volunteers – people who both love Herne Hill and film.
Our primary aims are:
• To organise and promote screenings in iconic Herne Hill locations with a special emphasis on open air events.
• To encourage and nurture film making skills in Herne Hill, particularly through an annual 48hour Competition.
• To screen predominately a mix of culturally significant, independent, local and short films along with the occasional more mainstream movie.
• To promote screenings organised by individuals or groups adhering to our Mission Statement under the umbrella of the festival.
Herne Hill Free Film Festival is a volunteer led not-for-profit community endeavour. We are part of a family of south London Free Film Festivals (www.freefilmfestivals.org).
We work with partner organisations including Herne Hill Forum, Brockwell Park Community Partners, Brockwell Lido, Herne Hill Velodrome and others who share our vision.
Any money raised funds through donations and sponsorship will be used to cover the Festival’s running costs, apart from at those venues where the festival’s organising committee has agreed to split the proceeds of collections with the venue or other community organisations. We may pay for professional services however only with the agreement of the Festival’s organising committee. We do not pay staff or professional promoters fees.
Thanks to a grant from Film London and assistance from the Herne Hill forum, we were able to run the first Herne Hill free film festival, running from April 19 - June 1 2013.
