|Mission||The mission of History 500 is to make it easier for enthusiasts of American history including WW I & II to find the best history books and historical novels for each of over 50 key eras of U.S. history. Books are pre-screened by our members and arranged in chronolgical order preceded by the most widely acclaimed general overviews. History 500 also provides links to museums, monuments and battlefields within the U.S. and abroad to facilitate a better understanding of major historical events and places.|
History 500 is a private, members-only web site that provides recommendations on over 500 books covering the span of American history, including World Wars I & II - the best books for each of 50 eras. A one-time, $100 membership fee is required to join.There are no additional charges or costs associated with membership. History 500 does not sell any books directly.
History 500 removes the “guesswork” of what to read by offering an orderly, helpful, easy-to-use selection of the best 10 - 15 books for each of roughly 50 major eras of American history. Books are arranged chronologically by events within an era to help you better understand the sequence of events equence...and decide what to read.

Our book recommendations include not only acclaimed works of history by top authors, but also entertaining historical novels that appeal to all. At History 500, we believe that history does not have to be boring, and work hard to select books that are informative...and fun to read. Our members are dedicated lifelong history enthusiasts with an interest in sharing the books they read with others. That's how we started.
