Holy Family Conservatory of Music is a unique institution of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity founded to share with students, their families and the surrounding community the beauty of music; instructing, encouraging and promoting performance and appreciation skills, as well as growth in reverence for all persons.
In the tradition of Saint Francis of Assisi and our Foundresses,
we recognize the power of music to transform the ordinary, to heal broken spirits, to unite hearts, to nurture and form the inner spirit and to help persons to encounter God. In this spirit, we gratefully continue the tradition begun in 1925.
The Conservatory offers Private Lessons
Our curriculum provides many opportunities for students to develop their talents in whatever direction they may wish to go. Not only performance skill, but comprehensive music knowledge is included in the sequence of courses. Lessons are available on harp, piano, organ, strings, winds, guitar, and rudimentary percussion. Music lessons are taught at Holy Family Conservatory which is situated in the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance.
The Conservatory offers Music for Tots™
This music program, designed by Sister Lorna Zemke, is designed to help improve not only the tonal, listening, coordination and rhythmic skills of children, but also their verbal and socialization skills and ability to follow directions, focus attention and share with their peers. Tots from birth to age 5 are enrolled in a 10-week program each fall and spring. Typically, about 250 children and their parents are enrolled in the more than 25 classes taught by six to eight teachers. Classes are held at Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Sheboygan and in Green Bay.
The Conservatory offers Children's Choir
The mission is “to offer excellent instruction in choral music inspired by the Kodály Concept of Music Education and the choral standards of the American Choral Directors Association; and to provide outstanding performance opportunities, including performances with the music ensembles of Silver Lake College.” The choir offers creative, age-appropriate instruction to children in grades .
