Description Welcome to iForge!

Founded in September 2017, iForge is The University of Sheffield’s makerspace based in The Diamond.

About the makerspace

Imagine a room filled with equipment waiting to bring your ideas to life, that’s what a makerspace is all about.
We're run by students, for students, with a mission to facilitate collaboration, innovation and the creation or prototyping of anything you can dream of. Whether you're a pro on 3D printers or you’ve never used a saw before, all abilities are welcome.
The space will initially be open to engineering students only but in the long run, all students will be welcome.

The Kit

To facilitate the making, we're kitting the space out with 3D printers, laser cutters, woodwork and electronic stations amongst other pieces of equipment. On top of this we'll be supplying certain materials.
Some examples of what this space might be used for:

- Academic projects
- Prototyping for business ideas
- Parts for design competitions
- Presents
- Hobby work

Want to help run this space?

We're looking for all students from the engineering department (any year and course) to grow the team of reps who help run the space.
iForge reps are students that volunteer 3 hours of their time a week to help out users in the space, facilitating valuable learning and creating a collaborative atmosphere.
In return for this, reps receive a great deal:

- 24 Hour access to 3D printers, laser cutters and other tools.
- Extensive training from experience technicians
- The chance to be part of an enthusiastic community of makers
- Experience of leadership and mentoring that can be added to your HEAR.

If this sounds good to you, pop your details on a short form found in the link below.
