The idea for IntelliDrive started with frustrations regarding the 1990 John Deere air seeder. We wondered how much seed was being wasted in the field, so we began compiling data from planting and harvest maps. After looking at these maps, we discovered that there was, on average, between 10 - 12% overlap. This means that a 1500 acre soybean grower could be losing over $8700 per year, depending on the seed variety and treatments used.
With these facts in hand, we began developing a system that would prevent these issues and reduce the amount of wasted seed, and overplanting. We began with a manifold that incorporates 2 or 3 row pods, with electric motors attached. Each motor can act independently, slowing down or speeding up to control population through variable rate seeding. Farmers are able to operate IntelliDrive through a tablet, or an ISO Bus display. All parts used in assembly have a one year warranty.
