|Mission||To provide local children with opportunities to learn through play in woodland.|
I'm a mother of three, a teacher and a forest school leader. I am passionate about giving children the opportunity to learn through free play in exciting outdoor environments. I run forest school sessions with schools, nurseries and plans are underway to set up a parent and toddler group at Thornham Walks.
I taught for seven years mostly in Norfolk, although I loved the buzz and excitement of working with children I was frustrated by the constraints of the school curriculum, so after a break to have children I decided to explore other avenues.
I volunteered for Suffolk Wildlife Trust's educational team and discovered Forest School. At the age of 41 I finally found what I wanted to do! I completed my level 3 Forest School leaders training and set up Into the Wild Wood.
What I love most about Forest School is seeing children gain confidence, resilience and independence. It is a thrill to watch the determination on their faces as they persevere with something challenging and to see the pride and smiles of joy when they finally succeed. Providing children with a rich play environment and then watching as they become totally absorbed is a joy and a privilege.
