The Iowa Waste Exchange is one of the nation's premier materials exchange programs. It is a free, confidential, and non-regulatory service with resource specialists who can provide waste reduction, reuse, or recycling options. Resource specialists assist businesses, schools, hospitals, communities, and individuals. Since 1990, the Iowa Waste Exchange has diverted over 3.2 million tons of materials from Iowa landfills and saved nearly $83 million in disposal and related costs. The program is statewide with support from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Iowa Waste Reduction Center.
