|About||The Biddle Institute at Johnson C. Smith University hosts two programs that were developed to offer students opportunities for alternate admission.|
|Mission||The mission of the Biddle Institute is to coordinate and deliver intrusive support services to the diverse group of talented and highly motivated students from various ethnic, socioeconomic, and geographic backgrounds who enter the University via meta-cognitive, strengths-based programs.|
Biddle Institute includes two programs: The Biddle Freshman Program and the Sit Lux Scholars Program.
The Biddle Freshman Program provides the structure, opportunity, and encouragement students need to reach their full academic potential.
The Sit Lux Scholars/Research Initiative is a research based admissions and academic support initiative that focuses on building on the existing meta-cognitive strengths of students and using those strengths for academic success.
There are mandatory support activities and meetings for students in both programs. There is a close network, including the Biddle Director, academic advisors, professors, and other staff on campus, who will be observing and communicating with students. For students, this will build familiarity and the positive habit of seeking assistance with all the resources JCSU has to offer them.
