Meets Wednesdays at Noon, Congregational Church Social Hall on Melrose Ave. in Tryon, NC.
The Kiwanis Club of Tryon has completed 90 years of service to the Polk County community and the world. The Club was organized on October 11, 1927. Service projects are recommended by the Board of Directors but chosen by the members.
Over the past ten years, local Kiwanians have donated $30,000 to the Children's Area of the new Polk County Public Library and $20,000 towards the Education Room at the Collins Dental Center.
The Club has raised funds to help build new playgrounds at Tryon, Saluda, Polk Central Elementary Schools and Stearns Park (see pictures below).
By raising $39,000 the Club obtained the status of "Model Club" for The Eliminate Project, Kiwanis International's effort to eliminate maternal neonatal tetanus from all countries.
The Club gives at least $4,000 in college scholarships each year to Key Club members at Polk County High School.
We also contribute to Tryon Fine Arts Centers "Be Inspired Grants" for local teachers.
