|Mission||Our mission is to reverse a trend that has seen certification become worthless, and replace it with a strong drive for integrity and honor in our beloved arts.|
The KMAB was originally founded in 1999 by GMs Ian Cyrus, Michael De Alba and Rudy W. Timmerman in order to promote brotherhood, integrity, and honor within Korean martial arts. For a number of reasons, the seeds of the original version never fully blossomed, but the idea and ideals never ended. Years later GM Timmerman and De Alba continued with these ideas of mutual respect, unity, sharing, brotherhood, and leading by example and continued working together looking for opportunities to place these ideals in action. The result were several events hosted by them and close friends, such as the Gathering of Grand Masters in Canada in 2010. This event became a cover story for TKD Times magazine. The KMAB was reborn.
We are proud that the following co-founders joined us in our efforts: GM James Mc Murray, GM Geoff Booth, and GM Kenneth MacKenzie. Together, this group has some 230 years of experience.
|Awards||KMAB does NOT award certificates, we ONLY grant memberships to legitimate Korean style martial artists. Since certification from many sources are suspect, we tend to look at years of practice instead. As proof of practice, we require newspaper clips, martial art magazine clips, photos, certificates, awards, and any other documentation that supports your claims. Check our products page for more info.|
|Products||Gold Seal Membership (limited to ten), Masters Memberships, Black Belt Memberships, Seminars, and Sanctioned Events (A sanctioned event requires at least one of our founders to be present). Each of the Grand Masters may offer certification in their own particular art.|
