Climate change is increasing the unpredictability of weather patterns and increasing the frequency of droughts and flooding. This threatens millions of smallholder farmers across Africa who are dependent on rainfall to water the crops they produce to feed their families. The effects of climate change are compounded by a lack of weather monitoring infrastructure throughout sub-Saharan Africa.
This is impeding scientific research to close yield gaps, hampering actions to deal with climate change, as well as preventing farmers from accessing accurate local weather forecasts. Kukua’s vision is to close Africa’s weather information gap by leveraging ground-breaking new technologies as well as mutually beneficial partnerships. We seek to orient our meteorological service towards achieving development outcomes.
