Purchase with a Purpose
Laurrens's Closet was inspired by my daughter, Laurren Brooke Smith, who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) at the age of 11. While Laurren was battling the cancer, she prayed for God to help her change her attitude towards her diagnosis and treatment. During a television interview at the age of 13, when Laurren was asked about how she dealt with her cancer because the doctors had given her only 6 more months to live, she responded with the now famous quote, "I didn't pray for God to heal me, I prayed for a POSITIVE ATTITUDE." This statement defined the rest of Laurren's journey with cancer as she would always be found with a beautiful smile on her face. On December 4, 2009, Laurren went home to be with the Lord, and during her time on earth and after, she has inspired thousands of people by her life and her amazing story.
One of the many things Laurren did during her journey was Laurren and her aunt Rhonda delivered gifts to the other children fighting the same disease, and to this day our family still donates gifts to the children fighting cancer at Children's Hospital in Dallas which are called "Love for Laurren Grab & Go’s".
Through this business and a subsequent non-profit that is now developing, we will be able to continue Laurren's encouraging and inspiring legacy. One of the many unique things about Laurren is that she loved to wear lots of bling on her wrist in vibrant bright colors as she was definitely not afraid to be unique in her sense of style and I truly believe that accessories and clothing can be fun, affordable and glamorous to women, teenagers and children of all ages. When visiting Laurren's Closet, it is my HOPE that you will discover so much more then purchasing fashionable items, it is my HOPE and desire that you will also experience a warm, uplifting and inviting atmosphere where you can leave with a smile on your face and realize that there is truly a purpose behind every purchase.
