Why are we called Leatherbritches?
Before the advent of sciene and technology, to determine the gravity of beers for duty to be paid to the King, the ale conners used to spill beer on the wooden benches and sit on it while they had their snap!! (lunch)..... they could then estimate the beers strength by how hard they stuck to the seat. This means that they had to wear trousers capable of withstanding the wear and tear of the job. Hence they chose Leatherbritches......
