|About||We are a non-profit saving pets deemed "unadoptable" in Texas shelters who have an imminent euthanasia date. DONATE: www.mylongwayhome.org/adoptables|
Long Way Home is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in College Station, Texas whose mission is to save those deemed "unadoptable" in shelters or other rescues.
This mission allows us to rescue animals on three fronts:
We rescue pets deemed "unadoptable" in kill shelters. This could be due to severe, chronic, or terminal illnesses, very young/old age, or simply for being healthy in an over-capacity kill shelter.
Long Way Home Adoptables is saving pets from shelters across Texas who are facing euthanasia due to health issues (minor or major), old age, neglect, or abuse, then rehabilitating them and finding them forever homes.
(Please note: LWHA works exclusively with animals shelters, and unfortunately, does not accept owner surrenders or strays.)
All our rescues live in loving foster homes until they are adopted, and we cover all medical expenses until the date of adoption such as spay/neuter, microchip, deworming, heartworm treatment, Rabies/DHPP/Boredtella/Leptovirus vaccines, flea/heartworm prevention, mange treatment, dental cleaning, etc. A healthy pet cost between $300-$400 in medical expenses, but can go up to $1500 depending on the health issues (burned, pregnant, heartworm positive, needing amputation, etc.).
