|About||Love on a Leash is all about our certified teams who volunteer their time with their certified pets to provide smiles and joy for those in need.|
|Mission||Through our use of volunteer trained & certified therapy dog teams, we hope to amuse, encourage, uplift, and console through our visitation program.|
Certified teams volunteer their time with their certified pets and go to hospitals, senior facilities, assisted living facilities, libraries, schools, special educations for both adults and children, and hospice to provide smiles and joy for those in need.
We have visits in the following communities: Del Mar, Solana Beach, Carlsbad, Cardiff, Encinitas, Oceanside, Vista, San Marcos, Fallbrook and Escondido.
For many, this visit is the the highlight of their week. For many seniors, we are their only visitor. We try to make each visit with each person we encounter a special one.
Our pets are the one thing that make them feel the instant love they want and need. In some cases, long-term friendships develop. In others, we may never see someone again that we struck a liking to. But, it feels good to know we made a difference in someone's life that day.
There are many pet therapy organizations out there, but we are very lucky to have our founder, Liz Palika right here in Oceanside with us. She came up with a fantastic name, and her great idea of a therapy team in the 80's is now over 2300 strong nationwide.
|Founded||The North County Chapter of LOAL was founded on January 18, 2015.|
