Luvuyo Orphanage Home is a Non-Profit Organization that cares and supports children who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS, abused, abandoned, neglected, and vulnerable.
Due to that Mrs. Nokwali while working as a H.O.D at Siphamandla Primary School, realised that some of the students were coming to school without having breakfast in the mornings and at a certain stage discovered that some students eat meals which are provided at school during the week and on weekends they starve because they had nothing to eat at their homes, they will eat again on Monday at school.
She was also inspired by Mrs. Ntloko who was educating foster parents and grandparents on gardening skills with aim of helping to alleviate poverty.
Then on March 2002 Mrs. Nokwali with the main objective of helping those kind of children, she later resigned as a H.O.D. Through initiatives of networking with established institutions such as I.P.H, Tirisano network, Mrs. Ngomane (professional Psychologist) and other stakeholders from the community a survey was conducted and on July 2002 Luvuyo Orphanage Home was registered and started its operation.
When we started schools like D.C Marivate were experiencing transport problems for their students who were traveling from Soshanguve extensions. Parents were not able to pay for school buses and were not able to give them lunchboxes as a result children were not attending sagequately.
It was for that reason that Luvuyo accommodated some of the students from schools.
Since we started operating we managed to accommodate more than 352 children of which 22 of them are permanently staying in the centre.
A Day Care Centre was also established with the aim of nurturing children who needed basic care and as a way to sustain the organization financially.
