|About||Improving malaria research capacity in Africa.|
|Mission||To strengthen malaria research capacity in Africa|
Big investments are being made in malaria control and eradication in Africa, but without the necessary trained personnel in endemic countries, these efforts could be wasted. We seek to address this by supporting African scientists to undertake high quality research relevant to the treatment or prevention of malaria. To do this we:
-support a cohort of 18 African PhD students, registered at 5 African universities, to undertake high quality malaria research.
-provide ongoing career development support for a cohort of postdoctoral researchers.
-work with our African partner institutions to identify opportunities to strengthen their PhD programmes.
