|About||Marblehead's local brewery and the first Orthodox Christian monastic brewery in the world. A majority of our profits help the most vulnerable. Brewing for Good. (TM)|
The Marblehead Brewing Co. is the first Orthodox Christian monastic brewery founded by a monk from Mount Athos.
We were not born in a garage. We were not born in a boardroom. We are not the brainchild of a bunch of guys who liked to homebrew. Monks have been making beer for over 1,350 years and we were committed to this work in the Frankfurt airport during a day long layover to the Middle East to oversee an aid distribution to Syrian refugee children. We were born in prayer and with the blessing of an Athonite Elder in a chapel dedicated to St. Nicholas on Mount Athos, called the Holy Mountain by Orthodox Christians. We might be craft brewers because we are small, but our mission and your support make us mighty.
We brew out of a concern for others and respect for the power of beer to build community. We honor these qualities with an absolute dedication to quality and determination to brew the best beer possible -- over 1,500 recipes thus far. We pray to St. Nicholas, patron of brewers, to guide our way, our heart and our hands to be able to serve you the best beer possible brewed with love and devotion you can taste.
Big tent, lots of love. A majority of our profits funds our charitable work for the least fortunate.
Brewed at the Shrine of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, patron of Sailors, Brewers and Repentant Thieves in Marblehead, Massachusetts.
