Marre & Allen Bar + Kitchen: Locally Sourced. Regional Flavor. Housemade Ingredients.
Marre & Allen Bar + Kitchen is named for Marre & Allen grocery and general store, which was built in the 1800s. At that time, Andrew Marre was a merchant and cotton buyer, and was the first to purchase a Birmingham city lot at the June 1, 1871 auction held by the Elyton Land Company. The Marre building was a two-story stone building constructed on the northeast corner of 1st Avenue North and 19th Street by Andrew Marre for his Marre & Allen grocery and general store.
True to its Birmingham heritage, Marre & Allen Bar + Kitchen’s ambience was designed with steely tones of grey and silver. This casually upscale dining space wraps around the U-shaped bar and overflows into the Birmingham Marriott’s Great Room, where you can experience live music or full service dining. Full service is provided.
Marre & Allen Bar + Kitchen is located inside the Birmingham Marriott and features chef driven, locally sourced and inspired fare. Here Chef Chad Schofield incorporates local and regional, in season, fruits and vegetables into his made from scratch dishes. Joyce Farms Chicken, Harris Ranch Beef, Gulf Shrimp, and Gulf Grouper are accompanied by cage free eggs, Benton’s Bacon, Conecuh Sausage, McEwen & Sons Grits, artisan Alabama and Georgia cheeses, and locally made breads. We have proudly highlighted on the menu the regional fare and offerings produced in Alabama.
