McDowell Lake First Nation is an Oji-Cree First Nation band government located approximately 155km northeast of Red Lake, ON. It is a part of the Keewaytinook Okimakanak Council (Northern Chiefs) and the Nishnawbe Aski Nation.

Due to a lack of infastructure and an oil spill on the land, the McDowell Lake population currently lives between Red Lake, ON and Thunder Bay, ON, while growth and clean-up occurs on the land.
McDowell Lake First Nation has a band office at 146 Howey St. in Red Lake, ON. This office offers a variety of services included: Health Department, Finance Department, Indian Registration, and Land Use Department.
COMING SOON: In January 2018, McDowell Lake First Nation will be opening a brand new Health Department office in Thunder Bay, ON. Stay tuned for details!
