Connecting People Who Care with Causes that Matter
The McHenry County Community Foundation is a trusted community leader, sponsor and participant encouraging philanthropy and welcoming partnerships, to create a positive difference in the quality of life in all of McHenry County.
Based in Crystal Lake, Illinois, the McHenry County Community Foundation is a public foundation established in 2001 by a group of community minded individuals. McHenry County Community Foundation “MCCF” provides philanthropic-minded citizens and nonprofit agencies with a central, locally administered foundation. MCCF accepts donor-directed funds and unrestricted endowments to grant seed or expansion money for unmet social, cultural, educational, and charitable needs throughout McHenry County. The donations that the foundation receives go back into the community through grants, scholarships, and sponsorships. Area residents can guide their own philanthropy through MCCF by establishing a donor advised fund, legacy gift or other planned giving.
The McHenry County Community Foundation is part of larger associations pursuing similar goals in community giving. We belong to the Chicago-based Donors Forum, our regional association of grant makers. Donors Forum offers many programs and services for foundations, corporate giving programs and non-profit organizations, including training programs and a resource library.
Representatives of the Alliance of Illinois for Community Foundations meet periodically to build collaboration among the state's community foundations.
We also belong to the Washington-based Council on Foundations, a national group that provides leadership expertise, legal services and networking opportunities. The council provides its members with the ability to hold conferences and events, and has a wide series of publications concerning philanthropy and foundation management.
