The Mission of the Mechanicville District Public Library is to:
Be a window to the world for the City. Be a source for information either by providing it directly, or by providing it through links with other libraries and information services.
Be a community source of leisure time satisfaction by providing literature, magazines and other entertainment or enrichment sources that are deemed appropriate by the general community.
Provide a broad range of materials to the public, taking into consideration the interests and needs of all groups, and allowing no one segment to dictate what may or may not be available (see ALA Bill of Rights).
Be a positive institution within the community, helping to sustain the intellectual life of Mechanicville, working to foster and satisfy the curiosity of Mechanicville’s children and working to educate, inform and entertain her adults.
The Mechanicville District Public Library is a member of the Southern Adirondack Library System (SALS) which encompasses Warren, Washington, Hamilton and Saratoga Counties.
SALS, in conjuction with the Mohawk Valley Library Association (MVLS) provides a computerized catalog of all the holdings of the member libraries of the two systems.
Patrons of the Mechanicville District Public Library thereby have free access to more than 2,000,000 books, videos, audiocassettes, periodicals and other materials through interlibrary loan.
The Mechanicville Library has several programs for children, families and adults. Below you will find a list of some of our activities. We are constantly adding more programs, so keep an eye out for our Library Newsletter to find out about upcoming events.
