|About||Morwell Pop-up Park in Tarwin St is a community space is an easy and fun way for people to be more active on a daily basis.|
Located on the Commercial Road end of Tarwin Street in Morwell, the public plaza features synthetic grass, temporary landscaping, tables and seating, and a space for fun physical activity opportunities for all ages.
The pop-up park is part of a broader community activation that aims to:
encourage our community to be more active by providing a welcoming space and fun engaging activities
promote opportunities for Latrobe City residents to engage with each other in a social setting
breathe new life into underutilised CBD space.
Continued feedback from the community and local traders has identified support for more activities and greater utilisation of the park as a community gathering place, rather than close it.
To allow everyone to take advantage of the upcoming spring and summer season, Latrobe City Council is seeking to extend the Tarwin Street pop-up park project until 31 March 2017.
Latrobe City Council advises that it intends to exercise its powers under clause 10(1)(c) of the Local Government Act 1989 to maintain the temporary partial road closure of the northbound lane of Tarwin Street, Morwell, at the median break to prevent traffic from exiting to Commercial Road.
Under Section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989, you can make a submission about this proposal. Submissions, in writing, can be sent to Stuart Simmie, Coordinator Community Resilience, Latrobe City Council, PO Box 264, Morwell 3840 or by email to Stuart.Simmie@latrobe.vic.gov.au by 31 August 2016.
