|About||GO Mt. Charleston offers year-round educational, volunteer, and visitor programs free to the public for the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area.|
|Mission||Explore * Learn * Volunteer|
The Spring Mountains rise out of the desert creating a spectacular mountain environment that provides a home for many unique plants and animals as well as a retreat for the Las Vegas community. The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area, known to many as "Mt Charleston", is only 45 minutesnorthwest of Las Vegas and offers year-round recreation opportunities including hiking, camping, and picnicking, as well as snow-based activities in the winter.
There are many things to do when visiting the Spring Mountains. Go for a hike, see the sights, enjoy a picnic, or pitch a tent and stay at one of the campgrounds. For more ideas visit our website, GoMtCharleston.com or stop at the visitor center located in Kyle Canyon.
When you visit, join an interpretive hike with a naturalist to learn about the plants and animals unique to the Spring Mountains, attend a campfire program to learn how the mountains were formed, or trek through the snow on a guided snowshoe hike.
We have a volunteer opportunity for everyone. Help us to take care of this spectacular mountain ecosystem we all enjoy.
