Mission At the center of the Church is Jesus Christ, the "most handsome of the sons of men" (Psalm 45) and the "icon of God the Father" (John 1). It is his gracious presence that makes the Church's Liturgy beautiful. In contemplating the perfect beauty of Christ, the Church throughout the ages has been inspired to create beautiful works of art specifically for use in the Liturgy as well as to foster the development of art in the surrounding culture. The music program at the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans joyfully inherits this tradition. The choirs of the Cathedral, both adults and children, weekly present the artistic treasures of the Church in the context of the Liturgy. The Concert Series at the Cathedral seeks to carry this beauty out into the community, presenting programs that cannot be heard anywhere else in Shreveport. All of this is presented free of charge so that all people, regardless of education, religion, or income, may be exposed to the beauty of the arts and by them be led to the perfect beauty of Christ. For more information or to make a donation in support of the Cathedral music program, please contact Aaron Wilson, Director of Music, at awilson@sjbcathedral.org or by phone at (318) 221-5296 x 114.
