About National Council of Negro Women: Reston-Dulles Section
Consistent with our founder, Mary McLeod Bethune's, vision, NCNW serves as a national "organization of organizations" to extend the collective power and leadership of African American women.
Mission
The mission of the National Council of Negro Women is to advance opportunities and the quality of life for African American women, their families, and communities. NCNW fulfills this mission through research, advocacy, national and community based services and programs in the U.S. and the African countries.
Description
NCNW translates its philosophy of public education, community service, and advocacy through activities designed to:

- Disseminate information about issues affecting the well-being of African American women and their families;
- Promote healthy lifestyles and behaviors through health promotion and disease prevention projects;
- Promote community empowerment and self help programs in the African American community;
