About NEW Leadership™ is a national nonpartisan program to educate college women about politics and leadership and encourage them to become effective in politics
NEW Leadership Program: Green River College cover
Mission NEWL is funded by the Women's Funding Alliance in conjunction with Rutgers University and the Center for American Women in Politics. The aim of these organizations is to advance leadership and economic opportunities for women and girls by investing in innovative, promising programs, and building the infrastructure and systems that ensure long and lasting change.
Description In Washington state in 2016, pilot programs were developed at the University of Washington Bothell, Eastern Washington University, and Green River College. One of the unique elements of these programs included a panel of women in political leadership from throughout Western Washington to address students about their experiences which informed, inspired, encouraged, and empowered women to consider a career in public service.

At Green River College in 2016, we began a one-day political leadership training program for college women which we look forward to continuing annually.
Awards One participant from each annual program will receive a Leadership Scholarship for their Leadership Action Plan and steps which they have taken towards achieving their plan.
