NFA Investments / SBRengraving.com offers engraving services which far exceed the minimum marking requirements set forth by the BATFE. Engraving services are offered for Form 1 applicants as well as for other FFL's.
Hours are by appointment only. This is a part-time business conducted outside of normal working hours.
Engraving services: Standard (two lines of text) engraving, such required information from Form 1 applications (Maker's name, city, and state), are generally engraved from $60.00 (AR15 and PS90 type Aluminum receivers). Carbon steel and Stainless steel receiver engraving (AK47 AK74 and HK platform) starts at $75.00; the increased cost is due to both the longer time it takes to engrave these hard surfaces as well as the accelerated wear to the engraving bits. There is an additional $10.00 charge for adding a third line of text, such as the phrase "REVOCABLE LIVING TRUST."
All engraving is deep cut on a manual rotary engraving pantograph machine with a depth normally between .012" and .015" deep. This depth allows the weapon to be refinished with a variety of finishes which could obliterate or conceal more shallow engraving (ATF only requires .003" deep, about the same as a sheet of notebook paper). Lettering is normally blackened at no charge upon customer request. The preferred method of getting customers' weapons to NFA Investments for engraving is via UPS Ground service; shipped items will normally be returned in the same manner.
Engraving on AR15 type weapons is normally performed on the ejection port side of the receiver, either above the hammer and trigger pins or on the side of the magazine well. For other types of firearms, engraving will be performed in a place determined by NFA Investments. While you are welcome to indicate your preferred engraving location, no guarantee can be made as to whether or not it can be engraved in the location you indicate due to the geometry of irregular shaped objects in machines designed to hold round o
