|About||Do you want to speak about yourself, your group, or your company? Toastmasters is a safe place to learn and grow, with a cost-effective leadership program.|
The North Oak Cliff Toastmasters is new club forming in the North Oak Cliff/Bishop Arts area and is open anyone who is looking to improve themselves. If you’d like to be more articulate when speaking professionally or personally, Toastmasters can help. Since 1924, more than 4 million people around the world have become more confident speakers and leaders because of their participation in Toastmasters.
A Toastmasters meeting is a learn-by-doing workshop in which participants hone their speaking and leadership skills in a no-pressure atmosphere. Everyone is encouraged to join us for a meeting and is welcome to join.
At Toastmasters, members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. Each meeting gives members a chance to practice.
Conducting meetings. Members learn organizing skills, including arranging for and introducing participants, as well as preparing and adhering to an agenda.
Speaking without preparation. Members present impromptu speeches of one-to-two minutes, on assigned topics without preparation time.
Presenting prepared speeches. Two or sometimes three members present speeches based on projects from the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership Program manuals. Projects cover such topics as speech organization, voice, language, gestures, and persuasion.
Offering constructive evaluation. Every prepared speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement.
