Northern Lights Public Schools provides a quality public education program with enhanced learning opportunities to approximately 6,200 students in 27 schools in northeastern Alberta.
Our Mission Statement is "Working Together to Help Every Student Learn and Excel." Partnerships with our community are an important part of being able to offer our students the best educational opportunities possible.
In addition to our Kindergarten to Grade 12 programming, Northern Lights also offers a Care to Learn Preschool program for children aged 3 & 4.
Students enrolled in our Enhanced Kindergarten program attend school five days a week for full days. We supplement the half-day Alberta Education curriculum with enhanced instruction in all areas to better prepare students for Grade 1.
All of our schools offer character education, student leadership, daily physical activity and enhanced fine arts options.
Our high schools offer a wide variety of programming for students, including dual credit programs that allow them to pursue career training/courses while earning their high school diploma.
In our 2015-2018 Three-Year Education Plan, developed after extensive consultations with our stakeholders, Northern Lights identified three priorities: Literacy and Numeracy; Communication, Engagement and Partnerships; and Health and Wellness. We have numerous initiatives and resources in place to support these areas of focus.
