|About||"If you take care of the fish, the fishing will take care of itself."|
To conserve, protect and restore coldwater fisheries and their watersheds, particularly in local (eastern Fairfield County, CT) rivers such as the Saugatuck, Mill, Aspetuck, Pequonnock and Farmill.
Vision: By the next generation, Trout Unlimited will ensure that robust populations of native and wild coldwater fish once again thrive within their North American range, so that our children can enjoy healthy fisheries in their home waters.
Free, open to the public chapter meetings are held at the Fayerweather Yacht Club at 51 Brewster St in Bridgeport the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m., September to May. At our meetings we review project plans and activities and then a guest speaker gives a presentation on fishing, conservation or other topics of interest. It's also a great place to find new fishing partners and improve one's fishing skills (or learn new ones) and enjoyment. Fresh, warm pizza is served.
Nutmeg Chapter is involved in numerous conservation and education activities such as stream cleanups, tree plantings, stream improvements and erosion/runoff control, legislation, a fishing club for kids and the Trout In the Classroom environmental education program.
Realizing that enjoying the company of other anglers and conservation-minded folks is an important part of being a member, the chapter coordinates weekend trips to places such as the Housatonic River, the Catskils and the Connetquot River, as well as day trips fishing for trout on the Farmington River or for Atlantic salmon on the Naugatuck River.
