|About||ONGB promotes daily school attendance and youth development in pursuit of a future in which 100% of Oakland students graduate from high school.|
In 2008, Dr. Nyeisha DeWitt, Dee Dee Abdur-Rahim, and Tameka Raymond, all natives of Oakland, had a vision for their city and Oakland Natives Give Back Fund, Inc. (ONGB) was created. Driven by their passion to serve, their dream was to serve families in the community in which they were reared. For the first several years, ONGB’s primary event was the annual Attend & Achieve Back to School Rally (B2SR) at Oakland City Hall, which is an fun-filled expo of sorts where they provided fully loaded back packs and school supplies to underserved children in Oakland- at no cost
The success of the annual Back to School Rally deepened their desire to serve so they expanded their efforts to include granting funds to schools and other non-profit agencies in Oakland and providing humanitarian relief all over the world. Additionally, in 2015, ONGB has launched a year-round program called the EVERY DAY COUNTS School Attendance Challenge in partnership with the Oakland Unified School District.
