|About||The Oasis Project is an exciting new project aimed at serving and benefiting the community of Bryn near Aston-in-Makerfield & we need you to get involved!|
he Oasis Project is in initiative of St Peters Church, Bryn.
We see this project as the Christian mission to the community we have been placed in but as our church building had to be closed earlier this year (due to health and safety reasons) we do not have a building where we can offer these services for people living in the area.
Our church is striving to reach out to parts of our parish and bring new opportunities for the people that live here no matter what their need may be. To achieve this, we have won a bid to rent a local shop and have also received support from the local Council through its “Deal” programme where communities work alongside the council to provide services for residents.
We are hoping to divide the shop space for meetings and activities, that will enhance the lives of the local people, as well as providing a small second hand shop selling good quality clothes, books, hand-made cards, jewellery and knick-knacks.
We need to apply for change of use and then the shop will also need to be renovated as well as the usual legal fees that a project like this will incur.
When we have achieved this transformation it is hoped that we can use the meeting place as support for groups such as carers, dementia sufferers, mothers and toddlers, young people and also linking with other church groups in the area as we form part of the “Transforming Wigan” project.
This is why we are asking for your help, however small it may be, to achieve this.
