|About||Oholiab’s Offering is a visual artist gallery and studio.|
The Gallery was created to be a space
to show and discuss and respond to art.
The studio was created to give space for artist to create, to teach and to discuss art.
The vision of Oholiab’s visual arts gallery is to encourage visual artists who are responding to a call to create and who, in relationship with God, their creator, are living out that call. In this space artists are encouraged to dialog with other artists as well as non-artist, speaking to the issues of creation, the human condition, aesthetics, art and God. Oholiab's is a place for artists to come together to support one another.
Imagine life in the desert, with vast space and very little interruption to the landscape. Suddenly two artist decide to pull the entire community together to create an incredible piece of art. The community comes together with more than enough resources, so generously that they have to turn away the gifts because they don't need them. The two artists teach others how to create the various parts needed to complete the piece. And when it is complete everyone is excited and blessed.
This true story happened because the two artists, Bezalel and Oholiab, were responding to the living God and a call to be artists, to teach others and to pull the entire community together. Together the two artists, directed and inspired by God were able to complete the Tabernacle, an awesome piece of art, a place for worship. You can read a detailed description of this in the bible in Exodus. This is the story that inspired the name for Oholiab's Offering and the mission we seek to accomplish.
