Oilsands Student Delegation cover
Mission From our 2013 Constitution:

The Oilsands Student Delegation (OSD) provides an annual trip to Fort McMurray for University of Alberta undergraduate and graduate student leaders. This trip is designed to expose student leaders to the various issues and stakeholders involved in Oilsands development. By facilitating dialogue between students and stakeholders, and between students of different faculties and fields, the OSD allows the next generation of Oilsands leaders to become well versed in the many issues and perspectives involved in the Oilsands, and to form a holistic and bias-balanced understanding and appreciation of those issues.

Description The OSD is a student group at the University of Alberta that exists to expose student leaders to the various issues and stakeholders involved in the development of the oil sands. We connect students and community members from all faculties and multiple campuses with each other, and with stakeholders from the many areas of oil sands development. The OSD strives to inform and empower its members to determine the oil sands' future, with bias-balanced and holistic programming.
Our delegation to Fort McMurray typically takes place in late October. Our delegation fee ($40) covers overnight hotel accommodations, meals on both days, coach bus seating, and participation in our programming! Tour the Oil Sands Discovery Centre, an open pit mine, upgrader plant, reclamation site, and Indigenous territory. Meet with industry, environmental groups, government, and First Nations. And engage in critical discussion with fellow student and community leaders.
