|About||Old Sealand Road Stadium,Chester. (PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION PART BELOW)|
'The Stadium' as it was known, was home to Chester FC for 84 years opening in 1906 before closing in 1990 after the land the ground stood on was sold off by then chairman Eric Barnes to a retail park company for a 7 figure sum of money which the club hardly recieved anything of.At the start of the last season at the ground (1989-90) the club failed to get a safety certificate for the 'kop' away end which also had an effect on the stadium closing. After the final game in april 1990 the stadium was then left to overgrow and rust away for 2 years before finally being demolished in 1992.Chester were left homeless and then had to travel to play home games 40 miles away at Macclesfield Towns Moss Rose stadium for 2 seasons while a new stadium was built in near by bumpers lane. The club returned to Chester in time for the 1992-93 season to continue playing football league in the city.
