ONE Foundation for Culture and Arts is a platform for contemporary culture and arts.

ONE Foundation for Culture and Arts cover
Mission Our mission is to help deservedly position Bulgaria on the world’s cultural map, galvanize contemporary arts in the country, attract new audiences to quality culture and help ensure access to inspiring cultural content for young and socially disadvantaged viewers. We create events bridging communities, generations and nationalities.

Our mission is also to inspire new generations of cultural managers in this country, to create and introduce high-quality cultural content. We strive to meaningfully contribute to reform in the cultural sector in this country, and to assist in the process of integration with the European cultural scene.
Description

ONE Foundation for Culture and Arts emerged as a successor to ONE, the platform for contemporary culture most notable for publishing the eponymous magazine for contemporary culture (2002 – 2011) and for organizing dozens of events with a meaningful contribution as the Bulgarian scene continues to open up to the rest of the world.

ONE is behind three of the most influential events in Bulgaria in contemporary design, dance and architecture, as well as a number of other projects aiming to develop the local scene, to foster international cultural exchange and ensure access to quality contemporary cultural content for Bulgarian audiences. We believe that access to cultural content from around the world invites discussion of the cultural context and helps develop critical aesthetic acumen. Professionally, it is an opportunity to exchange ideas and work together with artists and organizations across all continents.

ONE Foundation for Culture and Arts has contributed energetically to an ongoing process of decentralizing the cultural scene in Bulgaria and is credited among those who worked successfully for the 2019 European Cultural Capital designation awarded to Plovdiv, the country’s second-largest city.
