|About||Men in Sheds brings together men who want to get together to form friendships, have a joke and enjoy themselves In a warm and inviting environment.|
A Men's Shed is a larger version of the typical man’s shed in the garden – a place where he feels at home and pursues practical interests with a high degree of autonomy.
A Men's Shed offers this to a group of such men where members share the tools and resources they need to work on projects of their own choosing at their own pace and in a safe, friendly and inclusive venue.
They are places of skill-sharing and informal learning, of individual pursuits and community projects, of purpose, achievement and social interaction.
A place of leisure where men come together to work so come and join us, even if you just want to meet the members and have a look around.
The History of ‘The Shed’
The First Step
The first stage of this project involved finding an accessible and central location, appropriate funding and a team of enthusiastic members with the drive to make the project happen.
Their outstanding success resulted in the creation of ‘The Shed’ in its current location on the Oswestry show ground. After clearing the site of trees and undergrowth and positioning of a generously donated portacabin, the workshop building was constructed and fitted out with heating and electricity which supports the installation of various machines and tools to be used by the members in construction of their projects.
The next step – which is underway.
Moving on from stage 1 and now that funding has been identified a plan has been submitted for a further workshop specifically aimed at introducing a metalwork and welding shop.
