|About||Working mens club,|
|Restaurant services||Groups, Outdoor, Reserve, Walkins|
We are a very friendly working mens club not far from the hospital in Burnley. There has been a building on this site since 1850 when it occupied a strategic point on the road to Skipton, at the time the main road across the Pennines. The building (then a Bake house and stables) was bought by Councillor William Whittaker and the club was born. We joined the C.I.U. in 1903 and was used as a soup kitchen during WWII. The building burned down in 1968 but was rebuilt on the old site. We have a good sized function room with a 10' drop down TV screen Used to show major sporting events. A Lounge and games room with a 3/4 sized snooker table. We hold Functions throughout the year both private and public, and with Bingo on Sunday and Monday and entertainment every Sunday night we cater for all ages.
